As a result of breeding Sakura and Bambi have been left with issues that affect their breathing. Both have the chance to improve their lives with surgical intervention. This comes at a cost and we hope that you’ll help.
Bambi and Sakura need our help and we need to raise $6000 + to cover the costs of their specialist surgeries!
Bambi’s Story
Bambi the 10 month old French Bulldog was brought to a rural pound as a ‘stray’ before coming into our care because of her difficulty breathing.
Thankfully she had a foster family waiting for her and has spent some time settling into life.
She has been assessed by Dr Alex at Melbourne Animal Referral Services and, as we thought, will need surgery to correct her Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome and help her breathe.
This involves widening her nostrils, thinning and shortening her soft palette and removing her laryngeal saccules and tonsils.
This has an estimated cost of $2500 - $3100.
Sakura’s Story
Sakura was unceremoniously dumped at the pound after her family left her respiratory untreated for the last 12 months.
She arrived weighing only 1.8kgs and while in care she has made it to 2.6kgs. Sakura also has pretty non-existent nostrils which effects her ability to breathe and clear the snot her body is still making.
Sakura was also lucky enough to see Dr Alex at MARS and she requires a CT scan to assess any abnormalities that may cause her more trouble and surgery to widen her nostrils.
This has an estimated cost of $2600 in addition to the $400 of diagnostics we have already completed.
