Dean and ken

DOB: 27/07/2022
Sex: Male
Breed: Scottish Fold Mix
Coat: Short
Microchip: 956000015007153 & 956000015930806
Location: Narre Warren South, VIC

Dean and Ken are looking for a foster home.

Dean and Ken are sweet but very special boys who are a part of our perma-squishy program. This means that Squishies will be responsible for managing their care and the cost of their veterinary care for the entirety of their lives.

Both boys were born with myelin deficiency which means that they lack coordination, shake and sometimes experience seizure activity. This usually looks like staring straight ahead, walking in circles and is something we manage with daily medication. Their condition won’t get worse but it won’t get better either. Neither know that there is anything different, they just know that sometimes they fall over instead of moving forward.

Dean loves to trill and chat to the humans. He can be quick when he wants to be and will sometimes run at full speed to get away from you if he knows it’s time for bed. He is so affectionate and loves being cuddled. He will flop onto your chest, purr his little heart out while making biscuits on your arm. When it’s dinner time he will smooch your legs while you get the food ready.

Kenny is much quieter than his brother and being a Scottish Fold he does have some joint issues that likely impact him. To help him with this we give him some supplements in a tubey treat each day that he licks up at olympic speeds. He also loves a scritch on the head and has recently found the joys of toasting his bones on the heated blanket, he can lay there for hours.

They’re happy to entertain themselves throughout the day if their foster family were at work but would be equally good working from home buddies. They snooze on their bed (always cuddled up) and then have a good wrestle and chomp on each other before having another nap for good measure. Both enjoy a regular brush but Dean will help you by licking your arm while you do it (so helpful).

Both boys are great at using their puppy pads to go to the toilet. They can use disposable or washable ones so will be happy to do what suits their new foster home. They consistently use the same space but can have the occasional accident (nearby) so an understanding home that has a space with tiles or floorboards rather than carpet would be best.

They would be more than happy to share their foster home with other cat/s. They are not bothered by feline friends and are even tolerant of a bop on the head if they get too close to a grumpy cat. They haven’t lived with a dog for a long time but a calm, cat-friendly dog who will give them space may be fine.

Squishies is looking for a foster home in Melbourne who is initially willing to commit to them for at least three months but the longer, the better. Ideally we want to find them a permanent foster home so that they have their own family to love them for the rest of their life. While the boys are not difficult to care for (or to love) Squishies will be there to support their new carers however they need.

If you are considering fostering these boys we would love to talk to you and set up a chance for you to come and meet them in Narre Warren South.

KIALLA

DOB: 21/12/2015
Sex: Female
Breed: Exotic Shorthair
Coat: Short
Microchip: 956000005384073
Location: Warrandyte, VIC

Adoption Fee: $350

Kialla has made amazing progress in foster care. As the oldest (10) of our sweet treat intake you would expect that she might be a little shyer than others after living in terrible conditions for longer than them but we are happy to report that that is not the case!

Kia has really thrived in a calm, quiet foster home. She loves to chat and will tell you all about her day even if you didn’t ask. Once she’s settled in she is incredibly affectionate and loves to be brushed and will happily make biscuits in her bed while you brush her. She has recently decided it’s her life mission to stop you from working on your laptop and that every time you’re in bed it means that you’re ready for a cuddle.

Now that she’s a bit more confident she is enjoying exploring her foster home and watching the birds through the window. Otherwise you might find her doing zoomies around the house or following you around while you make breakfast.

Her favourite napping spots are on her heated blanket, in her cubby holes on her scratcher or on the end of her foster mum’s bed. She will even use the scratcher for its intended purpose if it’s got material she can really get her claws into.

Kialla would be happiest in a home with one or two adults but may be okay with calm teenagers. She can still get a fright from quick or loud movements so young children aren’t really her thing. She would be happy to co-exist with a friendly cat but would be more than happy if the humans were all hers.

Kia is looking for a patient indoor only home who is willing to let her settle in in her own time. While in care she has had a dental which removed nearly all her remaining teeth but she doesn’t let it bother her too much. Kialla is also desexed, microchipped and up to date with her vaccinations and parasite treatments. She is in care in Warrandyte and looking for a home within Victoria.

PRINGLE & PICO

DOB: 19/10/2019 & 12/12/2021
Sex: Male
Breed: Selkirk Rex & British Shorthair
Coat: Short
Microchip: 956000011640763 & 956000014503064
Location: Cranbourne, VIC

Adoption Fee: $700 for both

Pringle (6) and Pico (4) arrived as the last pair from the mass surrender we helped earlier this year. We wanted to ensure that they had time and space to decompress so they have spent the past few months enjoying their foster home, learning what it’s like to live in a house and being allowed to turn into the weirdos that they have shown us to be.

Pico is a mischievous young lad who has a penchant for exploring. This includes benchtops, boxes, bags or blankets, they are all his to investigate! He also loves water and his main victim is his water bowl where he likes to put both his front paws into it and dig around.

Pico is addicted to Greenies dental treats and manages to find entertainment no matter what’s going on. Fish in the tank, birds out the window, people walking past and even watching food go around and around in the microwave.

He is still building confidence but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t like you. If you go to another room he'll follow you, go to the toilet - he's waiting outside for you. He is happy for you to keep him company while he eats his snacks and will come and hang out for a nap in the loungeroom while you watch tv. He is even happy to have visitors arrive as long as they are also calm and quiet (no regular young kid visitors please).

Pringle didn’t take long in his foster home to decide that he was the more confident of the pair. He was ready to look around the house, explore where the humans sleep and start to show how affectionate he wanted to be.

Over the past few months he has shown what a loving, young boy he is and his life’s passion is a comfy couch and someone to pat him all day long. He has recently discovered the joy of sitting in laps or finding a spare spot on your bed at night. So a family who are keen for at least one snuggle bug is essential. He is also a big fan of pouch treats but care needs to be taken so that he doesn’t put on too much weight.

The boys love each other so we are looking for a home that is ready to welcome them both, quirks and all. Both boys will thrive in an indoor home with predictability where it is calm and quiet. Respectful teenage kids are fine with them but an all-adult home would also be suitable. Neither enjoy being picked up, carried or having their feet touched (who does?!) but a patient home where they are willing to build trust so that they can be brushed and have their nails cut is essential.

Pico and Pringle are desexed, microchipped and up to date with their vaccinations and parasite treatments. They are in care in Cranbourne and taking applications from Victorian based homes only. Their adoption fee has been reduced from our usual fee as our pound partner has covered the cost of the majority of their vet work.

STORM

DOB: 22/04/2019
Sex: Female
Breed: Scottish Fold
Coat: Short
Microchip: 953010003760949
Location: Ferntree Gully, VIC

Adoption Fee: $800

Storm has settled into her foster home so well but what she really wants is a home of her own. This means no other pets, no exceptions! She wants to be able to snuggle in bed and get head scritches whenever she wants and having to navigate other animals is not on her to do list.

Storm loves to chat and will meow for just about any reason. Snack? Meow Pats? Meow You walked nearby? Meow just in case. She has a beautiful gentle purr that she uses to reward you when you’ve successfully scratched the right spot on her head. She also loves to play ‘thing on a stick’ so while she isn’t a kitten anymore she is still active and able to keep up with you around the house.

She has really enjoyed her two human foster home but she may consider respectful children 12 years and older to share her new home with too. She is independent enough to do her own thing while you’re at work but she does love company so a family where someone works from home would also suit her. Storm loves to look out the window and will need an indoor only home or one where she can have safe access outdoors through a cat enclosure, tall fences are not enough to keep her safe.

Storm is a Scottish Fold which means that she needs a home who understands the unique care that folds need to stay healthy and happy. Storm is predisposed to joint pain which means that as she ages she will need medical intervention to ensure that she is as healthy and pain-free as possible. This means:

- Possible monthly injections when she is older
- Supplements like Antinol or 4cyte daily
- Regular nail clipping (their nails become overgrown easily)
- Discouraging her from jumping from tall places

While in our care Storm has had an infected tooth removed as well as a scale and polish to get her teeth in tip top shape. She is desexed, microchipped and up to date with her vaccinations and parasite treatments. Storm is in care in Ferntree Gully and is looking for Victorian based applicants.

CRUMBLE & CAROB - ON TRIAL

DOB: 27/07/2022
Sex: Female
Breed: Selkirk Rex & British Shorthair
Coat: Short
Microchip: 953010100015858 & 956000006215209
Location: Thornbury, VIC

Adoption Fee: $600 for both

Carob (BSH) and Crumble (Selkirk Rex) have spent the past few months being given patience, kindness and love in their foster home and it has made a world of difference for them!

The girls love each other and would love nothing more than to spend the rest of their lives cuddling and playing together. They will cuddle up at almost any opportunity. They’ve realised how wonderful a bed is for a snuggle especially if there’s some sun involved. They like to come and hang out where you are and watch while you eat dinner or hang out on the couch.

Carob and Crumble like a pat when they’re in a safe place like their bed but aren’t as keen to be picked up and carried around the place (who is really). Crumble has even started scoping out napping spots while the humans are in the bed too. When they aren’t hanging out they like to play chasey or entertain themselves by looking out the window.

While the girls are well on their way to being very special members of the family they are still in the confidence building stage and need a home who is understanding and patient to allow them to come out of their shell in their own time. Carob and Crumble would be happy with an indoor only home in a house or apartment with a single person or a couple. They wouldn’t mind if they worked from home or in the office, they have each other for company during the day.

We are hoping to find a family who would like to foster the girls with a view to adopting them after a settling in period. This means that their new family will have our support while they get to know their new environment!

They are both desexed, microchipped and up to date with their vaccinations and parasite treatments. They are currently located in Mornington but we can arrange transport to their new home within a reasonable distance.

MOCHI - ON TRIAL

DOB: 12/03/2023
Sex: Male
Breed: Exotic Shorthair
Coat: Short
Microchip: 978142000037962
Location: Brighton, VIC

Adoption Fee: $450

Meet Mochi

Mochi has been in our care since January after his previous family were unable to house him. He has just turned three and is now ready and looking for his forever home.

Mochi is so easy to love! He is happy to spend time with you, hang out on the couch or watch the world go by through the window. He is happy to entertain himself when you are busy but loves to keep you company when you have the time. Once he’s settled in he is happy to explore, especially places that are up high like benches and tables. Mochi likes to bond to his humans so a home without other animals is what he is looking for. With people he’s a lover not a fighter, he would love nothing more than curl up and sleep with you all night, even if he does have a bit of a snore going on. He lets trusted people give him belly rubs and will reward you with lots of kisses.

While in care he has had some instances of inappropriate toileting on things left on the floor. This has been easily managed by not leaving material items (towels, clothes etc) on the floor and by providing him both a litter tray with litter and one with a puppy pad. These instances have been infrequent but we want him to go to a home that understands that this may happen while settling in. Squishies is happy to provide advice and support at any point in Mochi’s life around this. He is easy to care for but needs consistency! This means regular brushing (he’s recently had a groom) as well as cleaning his eyes at least once per day. He prefers dry food but has some chosen wet food that he likes to eat, however he’s always up for a treat.

While in our care he has had a scale and polish to get his teeth gleaming. He is of course, desexed, microchipped and up to date with his vaccinations and parasite treatments. He is in care in Malvern and taking applications from Victorian homes only.

LOTUS - ON TRIAL

DOB: 17/12/2022
Sex: Female
Breed: Selkrik Rex
Coat: Short
Microchip: 956000013040145
Location: Melton, VIC

Adoption Fee: $350

Lotus cannot tell us what the first few years of her life has been like but we know that she was not offered the kind of environment that all cats deserve. She came into our care after being surrendered to one of our pound partners but despite this she has already grown so much while in foster care.

Lotus is a box fiend, if there’s a box then she’s exploring it. She will flip flop around in it and loves to peep her head out of it to see what you’re doing. She also absolutely LOVES to be brushed and this is definitely the way to her heart. She thinks that this is the best time for a human to be with her and hanging out. She has even been known to be bribed with a tubey treat or two.

We would love for Lotus to have a friendly feline friend in her new home. She takes cues from them and actively seeks out feline friendship in her foster home so having another cat to keep her company and show her how great humans are would be wonderful.

Lotus’ new home must go at her pace and understand that things like televisions, vacuums, washing machines etc are new to her and she needs patience to settle into a home environment. For this reason a home with young children will be too much for her at this stage in her life. A home with older, respectful children or one without would be great.

Lotus has recently had a dental to ensure her teeth are spick and span. She is of course, desexed, microchipped and up to date with her vaccinations and parasite treatments. She is in care in Harkness and taking applications from Victorian homes only. Lotus’ adoption fee has been reduced from our usual fee as our pound partner has covered the cost of the majority of her vet work.
